WASHINGTON, D.C. – Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will join kids and conservation leaders and organizations this week to celebrate Great Outdoors America Week (GO Week).
On Tuesday, June 25, Jewell will participate in a conversation about conservation and youth with Richard Louv, award-winning author of eight books about the importance of connecting children with nature, at the Center for American Progress.
On Wednesday, June 26, Jewell will join Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality Nancy Sutley, Assistant Secretary of Army (Civil Works) Jo-Ellen Darcy, over 100 local youth and conservation organizations at the Outdoors Alliance for Kids’ “Kids, Youth and the Great Outdoors Festival” on the National Mall. Jewell will provide brief remarks, participate in nature-based recreation and learning activities, and will walk with the youth from the Washington Monument to the Capitol.
The events are open to credentialed media representatives.
